Confession #2
In high school I used to imagine myself on the David Letterman show. Paul Shaffer would play a rockin' song when I came out, the audience would laugh and cheer, and Dave and I always got along great. He loves me...in my head. The funny thing is, I wasn't on the Late Show for being famous. I wonder why imaginary Dave frequently booked me on the show? It must have been for the ratings.

Maybe you originally appeared on the program because you had a pet that could do an amusing trick?
While on the show that first time you and Dave hit it off, prompting him to invite you back periodically.
Sort of like when he repeatedly invited Natalie Merchant back.
I didn't know you wanted to be famous?!:)
But you are now that you have art up in a gallery in NYC! Fantastic show, by the way. I totally get your art! LOVE MOM
Don't forget to explain the distant people you look at when you're being interviewed by Dave. That's the bestt part.
And what's that Deli-guy's name that's on there all the time? I mean, geez, you would be WAAAY more interesting. 'Specially if you looked at imaginary people in the distance.
There was a woman in my ward in Idaho that got invited over and over and over to David Letterman to cook on his show. She is CRAZY ENERGETIC and always through in a gospel topic into their conversations. The key is - get on the show for a talent/reason, stay on for making the audience go WTF?
I forgot about looking into the distance, Lauren. But that's almost all the time, not just when I'm on Letterman.
I can play the recorder. Is that considered a talent?
Yes.
And if you can teach a dog to sing along, you're almost guaranteed a spot on the show.
You were on there because I told him to invite you after I had been a regular for a while. I think about the same thing! Anyway, really, he saw a picture of you and said "Wow! she'd really bring my ratings up and that really funny guy from SNL would want to be on the show with her."
