My Apartment...the Land of Milk and Honey
Yesterday was the Day of Lovers, or Valentine's Day as most of you know. I had to work the late shift last night and didn't get home until 1:30 in the morning. I basically walked home in 9 degree weather and by the time I made the treck up to the sixth floor of my apartment, I was pretty tired. I needed something warm to drink because the temperature of my body was dropping fast. I didn't want to make hot chocolate because I didn't want to consume a lot of sugar and chocolate before I went to bed and also I was simply exhausted. I decided I needed to figure out something.
"What could I do with hot water?" I thought.
"Nothing," I answered.
I remembered I had a little milk left and decided maybe warming it up in the microwave might be nice. I've never done that and was a little worried that it might not have a satisfying flavor. Then I thought what would be a good combination with milk? HONEY! I could just quickly add a little natural sweetener. Besides, when the Bible referances milk, honey is ALWAYS around. There's got to be something to this combination - and not just in the symbolic sense.
So that's what I did. I heated one cup of milk in the microwave 'til it was frothy then stirred in honey 'til I liked the taste. It satisfied my body temperature and my taste buds - way better than tea would have and way faster than hot chocolate does. Afterwards, I decided adding a small amount of cinnamon would be a nice variation on this new drink. It reminds me a little of rice pudding minus the rice.
I'm sure someone somewhere else has already thought of it, but I would just like to share it with you so that you too can jump on the milk and honey bandwagon. Milk and honey, it's the new tea.
